Bruises.......

Hi friends

This mixed media is made using a book page, texture paste and inks. Hope the texture is visible here. The contrast of stark brutal black on the softness of book print and lavender and the scratches on the background somehow speak to me as brutal attacks and violence on women( the rapes, acid attacks, domestic violence, female foeticide continue..........). Time may heal the physical wounds but what about the bruises left on the soul............

The Inner Voice.....

Hi,

another one with doodling on a colored background, this time with a whiteUniball Signo pen. The backgrounds are made while playing with water colors. Like  I said in my post earlier, I find doodling almost meditative, love the way the design keeps flowing without any conscious effort yet one remains so focused and alive, in awareness and in tune with oneself.

Soft Pastels and a hand-cut stencil

Hello friends,

a quick post, this is made using Camel soft pastels, the bird is a hand cut stencil, I like the soft effect of these pastel colors, they merge well . I just used a little cotton and my fingers to rub and blend the colors on paper without any sketch.

Scrape the soft pastels with a craft knife or blade and pick the pigment with a dry brush or wad of cotton

Block printing with food colors and some doodling........

Hi Friends,

a peek into my sketch book........used wood blocks to print randomly all over the page using food color and then some doodling with a black fine tip pen ( three colors Red, Yellow and green mixed with water, btw each bottle of the food color powder at Rs 7/- and for all the following pages I used hardly a tsp each .....and a disclaimer....I do not use food colors in my food ever these were bought especially for some artsy satisfaction)

Random printing with different colors makes the colors blend in places and creates an awesome watercolor effect. While doodling, I tend to pick some printed patterns and then the design takes its own shape. I found the process almost meditative and most of the time the results are so organic !!

and if you think what use these are , then have a look at this............

I used this to decoupage a small note book..............the colors did not bleed, the patterns look even more vibrant after a coat of my home made mod podge mix, the doodling looks more defined and me so so happy whenever I pick up my notebook!!! .......a little stickles here and there on the pattern and its done...

I am so happy with these intrinsically Indian colors, patterns and motifs, what about you.......would you like to see something like this printed as an Indian theme set of pattern papers ?

Update ..................this work along with some others is getting published in a book of poetry "Irom Sharmila, A Cry For Peace". Sharmila Irom is also called the "Iron Lady of Manipur", she is a civil rights activist and poet from the Indian state of Manipur. On 2 November 2000, she began a hunger strike which is still ongoing. Irom Sharmila has been regularly released and rearrested every year since her hunger strike began. Her primary demand to the Indian government is the complete repeal of the AFSPA which has been blamed for violence in Manipur and other parts of northeast India.
(The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), is an Act of the Parliament of India which was passed on 11 September 1958. It is a law with just six sections granting special powers to the Indian Armed Forces in what the act terms as "disturbed areas").
