Hello Friends
I am sharing an altered box at the Colourarte Blog today with a step-by -step tutorial ......
I started by giving a coat of white gesso to a sturdy 6″x6″ mobile phone box and adding drywall tape to give some texture. The sides of the box have texture using a script stencil and white texture paste..
more texture with a stencil and texture paste
Added some chipboard, clay embellishments, beads, charms, resin embellishments and metal charms to create a nice composition…
a coat of white Gesso on some …
a coat of black gesso all over, this is the first coat, make sure to cover everything well with the black gesso…
To bring out the detail, I used the dry brushing technique. Dry brushing is great for picking out details and edges in 3D pieces.
I have used Iridescent Violet, blue, green , gold and copper ….
I added Primary elements Mediterranean Blue and sprayed with water + The solution ( ColourArte medium for Arte Pigments ) , this allows colour to sink in and highlight the textures…. The sunken colors and dry brushing with black gesso to create shadows gives a wonderful effect ………
some close ups.......

June challenge at A Vintage Journey called 'Embossing Pastes/Textures'. The host for this one is the wonderful Astrid and here's what she has in store for us;Use any kind of texture paste (home made, crackle, coloured or plain) on your projects. There is an endless variety available, so play, have fun and apply it to your heart's content. Use it through stencils, randomly or in whatever way you want, but remember it should be in one of the vintage; shabby; mixed media; art journalling; industrial or steampunk styles that we favour. Put on your mixed media hat and create some magic!
