Mini Art -Art on everyday use stuff II

Hi Friends

I find it super exciting to have my art on things of everyday use ....what better than up cycling an old battered worn out mobile cover to get some TLC.......

I have used some DecoArt Black Gesso and then created texture with DecoArt Black Modeling Paste and a stencil ........

Added a die cut covered with Black Gesso with DecoArt Matte Medium.........

Allow to dry and then highlight the texture using Metallic lustre in Vintage Brass, Turquoise, Copper and white frost  ........and you have a masculine looking one of a kind of mobile cover to flaunt......I sealed all with two coats of Soft Touch Varnish...........

When you have the right supplies, this transformation does not take more than half and hour :) If you want to see other Mini Art projects click here , here  and here .........

Spring inspired Altered Art

Hi friends

having lots of fun playing with Little Birdie One step Crackle Medium , Little Birdie Renae Blush ,Tie Dye Pearl Gypsies - Celeste and the amazing Little Birdie chalk paints.

I altered a wooden key hanger in the shape of a guitar ....gave a coat of Little Birdie Chalk Paint in Charcoal as a base.

I used Snow, French Rose, Sailing Sky and Lemon Chiffon as top coat after I applied and let dry a thick layer of the crackle medium

Distressed the edges, added the awesome flowers, pearls and little embellishments .....finished with black ink splatters....

Hope you like this ..........please do leave your comments, it means a lot to me .......much love

Gilding with Metallic Leaf

Hi Friends

Today I want to share with you a festive alteration using the Metallic leaf and Alcohol splash from Itsy Bitsy............The metallic leaf treatment can be tried on any surface be it metal, glass, plastic , terracotta or ceramic.
Metallic finishes and gilding can add glamour, shine, richness, and patina to your decorative painting projects. Use sheets of Mont Marte metal gold, copper and silver leaf to accent furniture/ painting/texture/patterns and surfaces.
Here I tried it on metal and glass. I opted for alcohol splash on the inside of  glass bowls as I love the transparency and vibrancy of Alcohol Splash . also the tray and the bowls are fully functional as the tray with metallic leaf has been coated with few coats of Asian Paints varnish and can be wiped clean or even washed with a mild detergent. The glass bowls have no paint or varnish on the inside and totally safe to use with food or dry snacks.

so I started with this old metal tray which had enamel treatment that had peeled off and these textured glass bowls....

to this ......

my supplies......copper and silver leaf, leafing size and soft flat brushes to apply leaf.........

clean the bowls and tray with Isopropanyl Alcohol/Surgical spirit or alcohol solution

I applied Alcohol splash with a sponge on the outer side of the glass bowls........

let dry completely

Apply a very thin layer of Leafing size on the tray and the outside of bowls with a flat brush and leave for at least 20-30 minutes......

then start applying the metal leaf carefully on the tacky surface ,I added both copper and silver as I wanted a mix color effect .......

I also tried this on certain hand made resin embellishments  although I did not use them on this project but you can see the faux gilding one can achieve even on curved and textured surfaces.......

so this is my 'New' serving platter for sweets and dry-fruits this Diwali

see the lovely colors and shine of  fine metallic leaf through the transparent Alcohol splash

Do give the metallic leaf a try and add glamour to your ArtThank you so much for visiting & taking the time to comment on my blog. I love to hear from you & truly appreciate your feedback.
