Fabric Decou-page and Mixed Media with DecoArt

Hi friends

during these trying times it is our art and our connection with like minded friends that is keeping us sane. I hope all of you are following the guidelines and keeping safe . I wish good health for all of you , stay home , stay safe :)

I am sharing a fabric decou-page canvas bag with you all using a napkin and Americana Fabric decoupage glue-sealer and top coat , stencils from DecoArt and Fluid and Neon acrylics from DecoArt. The other side of the bag has an Image transfer using the American Decou-page Photo transfer medium .....

I have upcycled a canvas bag measuring 13" x 16" which was a gift from a seminar and had the seminar theme and logo etc printed in the center. The bag was gesso-ed to make the print disappear :) The Decoupage napkin with the frida Kahlo print was Decoupaged with fabric Decoupage medium from DecoArt, another flower tissue was used to create a composition around the Frida Image. then a lot of fluid acrylics, sprays and stencils were used, some stamping with archival inks....the sentiment from Visible image was stamped directly on to the bag with black archival ink........

The back side has an Image transfer ..........

I do hope you like this, I would be too happy and proud to flaunt my artsy bag with the image of one of my favorite artist at any crafty outings and meets after the lock-down is over :)

Reverse Decou-Page with DecoArt Tutorial

Reverse Decou-Page with DecoArt supplies Tutorial

Hi friends
I am back on my blog after a long gap ....hope you missed me some :) I am sharing a Reverse decoupage glass plate made with the awesome DecoArt supplies
Reverse Decou-Page with DecoArt supplies Tutorial

I started with a 9" glass plate and using Americana Decou-Page Matte  applied the Paper Napkin on the reverse side of the glass Plate .... allow to dry and then apply another coat of  Americana Decou-Page Matte  on the paper napkin. after that was dry I applied DecoArt Media White Gesso on the decou-paged surface at the back of the plate........

I then selected a paper from the Tribal set of Specialty Decou-Page papers from DecoArt Americana Decou-Page Paper is significantly thinner than most decoupage papers and delivers an almost seamless finish. Extremely soft, durable, pliable, and workable, this special paper weight is so simple to use. It easily wraps around corners, eliminates creases and wrinkles. This comes in three coordinating pattern sheets per package ( Each sheet measures 12"x16" per package).

I selected the paper and cut according to the size and shape of the plate and dry fitted to see position at the back of decoupaged surface.

Using the DecoArt Dimensional metallic paint in Gold and Andy Skinner Mixed Media Stencil Tornado  stencilled on the Decou-page paper.....

After the Metallic texture paint is dry cut little slits on the inside circle of decou-Page paper so that it fits well on the curved surface of the glass plate. Decoupage on the reverse side of the plate using Americana Decou-Page Matte , after the glue dries completely, sand the excess paper with a fine grit sandpaper....

Seal the back of the plate completely with Americana Decou-Page Matte  and after drying finish the back with a coat of Media Gesso in Black or white or Gold metallic. You need to give an opaque coating at the back as the Decou-Page papers are translucent .

I do hope you like this project and try your hand at reverse decoupage......

leave it overnight or for 24 hours to dry completely. I used Stencils and DecoArt Modeling paste to create sun ray and stone wall textures on the MDF square board of size 8"x8". Adhered the focal element made with craft cement and Gauze with DecoArt Heavy Gel Medium and then used DecoArt  Black Gesso to cover all......

DecoArt Media Fluid acrylics in Interference Violet , Interference Blue and Interference magenta .Media Interference Fluid Acrylics include six translucent colors that shift in color and appearance depending upon the light, viewing angle and color of the surface on which they are applied.
When applied over a dark color you will see more opalescent color and less of the color shift. When applied over a light color you will see a sheer opalescent color but more of the color shift. Thin applications in a wash or glaze increase the visual interference effects......

I have highlighted all the textures with DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Burnished Brass,Gold , copper and turquoise  which is a water based metallic wax that buffs to a brilliant shine......

After all the layers were completely dry I coated the canvas with DecoArt Clear Pouring Topcoat. although this was used a a topcoat for paint pouring projects but I love the lacquer-like, high-gloss finish it provides. The Pouring topcoat is crystal clear, non tacky and self-leveling and does not yellow over time..............added some gems to finish off....
