Hi Friends
Am sharing the whimsical book I created for the ongoing challenge at my favorite PaperArtsy Blog. The challenge topic is 2017 Topic 11: Books (big, small, binding). I was inspired by this post on the PaperArtsy blog by Kate Yetter to use Burlap fabric and stitching .
All Natural and Re-purposed Book Journal |
The book uses totally recycled paper and some printed left over scrap paper. The cover is made of two sheets of thick Brown packaging paper and a sheet of Burlap stitched together. The stitching is with black thread and deliberately messy. The flower design is stenciled with Snow Chalk Paint. some lace, die cuts by Sizzix ,and handmade flowers are added

there are four signatures inside made of coffee stained paper, recycled brown packaging tissue and paper, some sheets of pattern paper and even some envelopes........some punched borders are added randomly....

for closure a Jute ribbon is added between layers of Printed burlap sheet+two sheets of thick brown paper, then the jute ribbon and then the inside flap sheet of pattern paper and all are stitched together

The spine has a broken wood bracelet beads and a wooden butterfly threaded on both ends. The binding is pretty basic and improvised :) but sturdy !! I loved all the posts on this topic by the design team and the information packed challenge post as usual and already have few more ideas to create some small books for gifting and Art journal.

Please be kind as this is the first ever book I have created ....there is huge scope for improvement but I really love it :) I also want to mention my blogger pal Rupa who makes very interesting journals and books and inspired me with her coffee stained paper journals to give this a try.
Hugs
