Hi Friends,
Today I am sharing a simple way to create your own rust pastes using Little Birdie Mixed Media Paste in white with acrylic paints and Little Birdie Color Splash inks ........
Lets begin....
Supplies :
Little Birdie mixed Media Paste White
( Now you can also use The newly launched Little Birdie Grainy Texture Paste to get an even better effect)
Fine Sand
( Now you can also use the new launched Little Birdie Texture Sand )
Mixing containers
Measuring Spoons
Little Birdie Craft Glue
Ceramic Powder/ China Clay
Acrylic paints in Burnt Umber, Raw sienna, Orange, Yellow , Black, Red.
Rust paste I : Mixed Media paste one TBSP +One TBSP craft glue+ceramic powder one TBSP+ sand One TBSP+ brown paint half tbsp+ black paint 1/4 tbsp....mix thoroughly.
Rust paste II : Mixed media paste one TBSP +One TBSP craft glue+ceramic powder one TBSP+ Sand One TBSP+ orange paint half tbsp+ black paint 2 drops+ brown few drops+ red paint few drops+ yellow 1/4 tbsp....mix thoroughly.
Rust paste III : Mixed media paste one TBSP +One TBSP craft glue+ceramic powder one TBSP+ Sand One TBSP+ yellow Ochre half tbsp+ orange 1/4 tbsp....mix thoroughly.
You can adjust the colors to suit your liking...........I added a bit of color splash inks to paste II and III and one tsp of Tinted Metallic Paint Tawny Glint to Rust paste one ......
Adding Color Splash Gold Rush to Rust paste three.........
adding Color Splash Mocha to Rust Paste Two to warm up the color.............
When you are satisfied with the color mix, transfer in small lidded containers and you are ready to use your own 'Make it yourself Rust Pastes' !!
I made these pastes about two weeks back and these are in perfect consistency still in their small containers.
To try the Rust pastes my project I started like this......................
Handmade flowers made with thick card stock, gessoed and arranged on the background with some resin leaves .....background with DIY Rust Pastes...............
Flowers colored with Tinted metallic Caribbean Teal and Blue waltz and textures highlighted with Tawny Glint and Golden Glaze
some glitter and rhinestones added..........
I love the contrast of Metallic paints and the rust pastes , hope you like this project and try and experiment with your supplies !!
Please do leave your comments. I would love to read what you say and I would love to visit your blog too !!
