Rubber Dance Art Stamps June Colour Challenge

Hi Friends

This is my entry for the June Rubber Dance Art Stamps Challenge

Here are the colors for the challenge

The optional theme is Sand and Sea
I have made this Art Journal page for this challenge..........

I started with two coats of Gesso on my book pages. After it dried I used the texture paste with microbial stencil by Crafters workshop. Playing with a lot of inks.......

The sea shell is an Image transfer using the image from The Graphics Fairy and Gel Medium.

The sentiment is a rubber stamp from the Tim Holtz stamp set Butterfly Melange, used the other stamps from this set to add texture on and around the edges of the page with black Archival ink .

some other tiny stamps by inkadinkado to stamp tiny sea creatures and shells..........

Have used white gesso and a black permanent pen to define and create a shadow around my focal image. Some touch ups on the image with white gesso and white Uniball pen. Bubbles are doodled all over with the black and white pens.........

circles stamped with a small paint lid with white gesso are defined with some colour markers..........

lastly some dry brushing on the edges and textured surface to highlight the texture, black and white paint splatters and white gel pen detailing ............

I am so fascinated by the sea and feel an irresistible pull whenever am close to the sea. I can sit and watch the waves forever, love the ever changing beauty, mood and character of sea through out the day!! I am quite nervous about sharing this small secluded corner of the beach with all of you and do hope for some honest feedback which will help me in this creative journey......

Update: This Journal page was featured on The Graphics Fairy

Update: This was posted on the 2015 Round-up post on PaperArtsy. Thank you so much Lauren for your lovely words which I would like to quote here " Did you notice this amazing journaling by Suman Pandit. Her Seascape has real energy and movement. She’s used a plethora of techniques to create this sumptuous page but it seems to me that the whole thing rests on and is underpinned by the amazing effects created using texture paste through just one stencil and a variety of inks to bring out all the detail."

Finnabair Inspired ...............

Hi Friends

Today I have a special post.......

I am so excited and honored to be featured today as the Top Talent Spotlight at Our Creative Corner !! I had won the Color Your World challenge for this entry of mine and was so happy and thrilled when I was asked to be in the spotlight. I am so grateful for this Laura and most of all for your lovely comment..................

// My winner Suman blow me away with her use of watercolor paints, texture paste, and acrylic paints with stencils. The stunning flowers just popped right off the page. What a delight for the eyes with all the fabulous details. Thank you Suman for showing us how you “Color Your World”.//

I have a short interview and some pictures of this special project on the OCC blog today. I hope you'll go and take a look. Here is my Finnabair inspired project..............

I love the rays effect going from the center ...........

You can see the dimension and the texture on the side panels, the texture is repeated on the outer edges too......here you can see another spellbinder flourish die-cut too and the gorgeous layered laces............ The size of the piece is 14x 14inches....

 can you spot the poppy.........

Most of the things in this project are recycled starting from the  base which is a piece of left over plywood, the tiny bottle which is a perfume sample bottle and some left over pieces of lace. The flowers are handmade with homemade cold porcelain clay and the collected ephemera is household junk  like washers, nuts and bolts, broken beads, old coins, keys, pearls, shells, buttons etc. the micro beads are actually mustard seeds.

Am so kicked that I made all the mediums like Texture paste, Heavy Gel Medium, Black Gesso and white Gesso myself with easily available materials. The colors used (  Fevicryl Pearl Metallic Colors) are made by an Indian company, Hobby Ideas and the brand name is Fevicryl (available on their online and physical stores. )  !!
You can see the tiny perfume bottle here..............

the tiny keys, washers, nuts and bolts, drywall tape, seed beads and mustard seeds, sea shells.......love the pop of color of that one big magenta rhinestone.....

the various die-cuts..........The Victorian Romance Flourish by Cherry lynn  is cut out of thin metal sheet and used in opposite coners, other dies used are Sprightly Sprockets by Spellbinders and leaf by Sizzix cut out of cardstock............

Two different laces are layered ............

Plenty of texture using different stencils and homemade texture paste...........I have used Mini Tile and Art is stencil by Crafters Workshop.

You can see plenty of handmade embellishments used here in this post of mine.

Don't miss to check out my Top Talent post at Our Creative Corner and a short interview I have there and leave me some love !! Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a sweet comment!

Decoupage and paint magic on Glass Bottles

Hi Friends

sharing some bottles with decoupage and paint.........
My regular readers know I love to alter bottles, In fact my crafting journey began with painting on bottles with glass paints. You can see some of my earlier posts where I have shared my altered bottles with my blogger friends herehereherehere, hereherehere and here

I recently went on an painting spree to paint few bottles to gift some friends who were asking for them and also ( the real reason...psssst) for the Paperartsy-bottles-challenge

Here is the first one in soft pink with a decoupage napkin, twine,  a charm, some pearl paint and a quilled flower......the box is also a recycled box with stenciling with texture paste and  Acrylic colors.......

Here is the same bottle with some lights in it .........

The second one is again decoupage and acrylic colors in a distressed look using a sponge.......

The third one has a texture base using Grunge paste applied by fingers and textured.I Stenciled leaves using the crafters workshop stencil and texture paste after the base dried. The bottle is then painted with various shades of blue and green  metallic acrylics. The stencil design and texture is highlighted using Gold and silver metallic powders by Camel .

The pic on the right shows the true colors.......all layers are sealed by a coat of Varnish.....

ETA: Got lots of queries regarding the texture paste used in the above bottle,so adding a little tutorial for making your own Texture Paste :

Here is the homemade texture/Grunge paste recipe: I use ceramic clay powder mixed with Fevicol MR( any white PVA glue)+ Water in a 1:1:1 ratio. Add White acrylic color in equal ratio if you want a whiter mix. You can also use baby powder instead of clay. The texture with the baby powder is smoother than clay. You can adjust the quantity of water little bit to get a nice thick texture like toothpaste.

When using as a texture paste with stencils, add white acrylic color too. You can adjust the quantities depending on what you want to use it for. For making embellishments or clay items, you can add more powder to have a dough consistency. For stamping you can have a liquidy texture and add the colour of your choice. The clay mixture works super economic and is good to be used as texture paste on three D objects like bottles, boxes etc or with stamps, stencils or moulds. It keeps well in a tight container for months, air dries quickly and is light-weight. You can do a lot with this, add colors, embed beads, lace, sequins in this and it adheres very well. One word of caution, wash your stamps and stencils immediately and well after stamping/stenciling with the mix. You can see a simple card I made using this and a wooden block printing stamp here.

This bottle was painted in black and a free hand pattern drawn using the paint pens in white and yellow.....here are the patterns on both sides of the bottle......

Now the last one with trying the crackle paint on the glass bottle .......

All the flowers are handmade using some punches and some hand-cut flower patterns...........

love how the crackle effect shows when lights are put inside this bottle.....

All the bottles were sealed with two coats of Asian Paints Varnish. Hope you would like these, please feel free to ask any questions regarding the process or the products used.
