Weaved Wool Mandala

This is the first ever woven Mandala tried by me. Just happened to see one of these while surfing the net and tried. I have been doing newspaper strip/rolls weaving and love to make tiny baskets. I did this mandala with the bamboo sticks taken from the bamboo mats waste material lying at home and some left over wool. My colour palette was limited but the result is not bad.......would try soon with other colours and patterns and share with you all. some more information about Mandalas ..........

Mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the Universe. In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.
In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, as a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. In Indian and buddhist cultures Yantras and auspicious geometric designs are created to generate auspiciousness.
Mandalas are also created to focus attention and create positive vibrations around it to achieve a goal, release positive energy, or for attracting good luck. Many ancient cultures use mandalas as a tool for healing and as a way of meditation. In Vastu Shastra also we use Vastu Purush Mandala to create harmonious spaces. The most auspicious Yantra , the Shri Yantra yielding prosperity is a representation of Lalita Mahatripurasundari, an aspect of Parvati.
