The Silent Tear.....................

Hello friends
This card is for the Hop to Stop Domestic Violence awareness challenge.

Purple is the color of National Domestic Violence Awareness month. 1 in 3 women will experience domestic violence over the course of their lifetimes. Let that sink in - 33% of all the women you meet.
And women aren't the only people who are affected! Women, men, transgender - gender doesn't matter. Domestic violence is something that exists regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, religion, education level, etc.

I suspect that the figures are significantly higher in India. The abuse and violence is not only physical but is emotional too. on top of it is the victim's sense of 'shame' which makes them suffer silently...shedding 'silent tears'.........

I wanted to create a hard- hitting visual with a strong positive affirmation of hope and faith, so my card does not use the goody goody happy colors, it is mounted on the drab kind of Kraft layers without any color, then a layer of dark colors showing the chaos and disturbance and out of all that...... the emergence of the strong woman who with all the hurt, pain and suffering decides to Live, Create and Tell the story ...........

I agree with  Becca Cruger that "...... in sharing our stories, we can heal and help."

For this card I have used some of my Gelli Prints made in various shades of Deep Purple and lavender using ColourArte Silks Acrylic Glazes in Boysenberry, Raspberry Wine, TealZircon and Sunflower

I have used the Andy Skinner stencil 'Strike the Pose' from DecoArt and DecoArt Media Black Gesso to stencil the face on the gelli Print.......
I have distressed the edges and sponged with black archival ink, layered on a kraft card from DCWV and doodled with Black Micron 0.5 tip pen. The tear drop is made using the glue gun and it is highlighted with a bit of Metallic Lustre  in DecoArt Silver Spark............

There is another work of mine, a mixed media work named 'Bruises' on a similar theme which you can see here

An amazing creation Suman... love the serious nature of your project and I am glad you decided to participate...the theme is very close to my heart...In India especially wife beating is taken as "normal" and no body volunteers to help the poor lady..parents, siblings ,friends all think its normal...times have changed over the decades but women themselves often take the abuse silently.
