Simon Says : It's a Stitch Up (stitching real/or faux)

Today I am sharing my second post as the Spotlight Designer for the Simon Says Monday Challenge. The theme is It's a Stitch Up ( incorporate stitching real or faux ) 

I will be posting special Spotlight Designer posts every Monday this month for the Simon says Monday Challenge, if you want to see my earlier post you can see here

The theme for this week is It's a Stitch Up and I created an Art Journal page titled  'Imagine the Possibility' in my Journal. 

1. I started with a mixed media card stock and added a coat of matte medium.

2. I added texture with Tim holtz flourish stencil and Crafters workshop Art is stencil

3.also added some random die cuts and circle cut outs on the background using matte medium

  After the modeling paste dried, I started adding colors straight with the mini distress ink pads in Picked Raspberry, Evergreen Bough and Mustard Seed. I blended the colors a bit with the water brush and a wet tissue. 

I then die cut and embossed the butterflies using the Tim Holtz butterfly duo die and embossing folder. I colored the butterflies with the same colors of Distress inks and stamped with a text stamp by Bo Bunny and Archival ink in Black, edged the cut butterflies with black archival ink 

I added some stamping on the background too, also dry brushed white gesso in some areas to tone down colors and also to create some movement in design

I stitched the butterflies with a black thread on my page,added micro beads in black with Gel medium and the sentiment  ' Imagine the Possibility' using the Tim Holtz chit chat stickers 

 Added black paint splatters and some Gold metallic wax on the butterflies and black beads.......

Simon Says : Thanks/Thanksgiving

It is a very happy me welcoming you to my blog today. I'm absolutely thrilled to have been invited to be the Spotlight Designer for the Simon Says Monday Challenge. It is such an honor and  must say that I did a little happy dance when I received the email from Lols

I will be posting special Spotlight Designer posts every Monday this month for the Simon says Monday Challenge

The theme for this week is Thanks/Thanksgiving. I created a shabby chic card for a lovely friend...... this is totally NOT my style but my friend loves Pink and soft colors so I tried making something which would please her :) 

I started with white card stock and gave it a coat of matte Medium. the Matte medium works like clear gesso and allows inks and layers of wet mediums on card stock without warping. 

 I used Picked Raspberry, Evergreen Bough and Mustard Seed distress inks, Tim holtz layering stencils and Finger daubers to get this..........

I softened  the edges with some white gesso  .......

Added Picked Raspberry ink with some white crackle medium and added through Tim Holtz Splotches stencil. 

 Distressed the edges with Picked Raspberry and Ground Expresso........

I die cut three ovals from some pattern paper and auditioned some embellishments from my stash.........

Final layer on the card background is some texture stamping with black archival ink and script stamps from Bo Bunny......

stamped the sentiment, mounted on black card stock and used clear crackle glaze on the sentiment and oval die cut, added crackle glaze on flower edges and sprinkled Rock Candy glitter to add some glamour........
